Other things to do and eat in Seattle

Go to Bainbridge Island. Seriously, just go. This little slice of the world is beautiful. With quaint shops and restaurants lining the streets to galleries, there is something for everyone here. The bonus is the quick 35 minute ferry ride from Seattle.

We ate at Harbor Public House, a kind of a pub place with local fare. No kids allowed, twenty one and up only.

Fish and chips were pretty tasty. Tuna sandwich was ok. It was raw, and although I love raw fish I like it better in sashimi than in a sandwich.

They have a great view outside too.

Mora Ice Cream Company

Absolutely dreamy ice cream. I had Swiss chocolate. The girls working were rude, but hey, the ice cream is delish!

Pikes Chowder

The crab roll is ok.
The chowder is good!

Japon Dog
gourmet hot dog vendor

A Japanese fusion hot dog? Hell yes! Interesting favors. Yum!

Lecosho Seattle

http://lecosho.com/
We stopped in at Lecosho after passing it several times on walks from our hotel to the market. We looked it up and it had good reviews-- so we went. Apparently opened by the Matt from Matt's in the Market.
Thoughtful food
Great atmosphere
Sit outside if you can
Go for happy hour and get lots of small plates
Best: hands down the braised beef. SO Delicious!
Also get: Spaetzle (dump it in with the braised beef!)
Liked: sausage and lentils
Nice: cheese plate
Yes: chocolate torte
No: porchetta ( how do you jack up pig when your restaurant is named after a pig?)

Seattle Deli Banh Mi

Had to have it.
Chewy crunchy salty flavory
Fresh
Delish!
The Bahn Mi at Seattle deli was all these things.
If you don't live here-- they don't have an actual restaurant. You grab and go.
Chicken was good.
Pork was better.
Spring rolls a must.
Eat it!

Japonessa Sushi Cocina Seattle

http://www.japonessa.com/

Stopped by this sushi place while walking around downtown. The atmosphere was nice, and they had a quiet patio outside for people watching.

The sushi was Delicious

Good ambiance

Service on the patio was not by a waiter. You tell the bartender what you want then they bring it.

Bathrooms were not kept up though

Overall we liked it.

I believe our rolls were the California crunch, matador, and we had a tuna tartare.

All were good!

Cat Cora's Kitchen Houston Airport

When we have time to kill around lunch at the Houston Airport, we usually stop in at Pappadeaux's. This time we decided to stop at Cat Cora's Kitchen.

Small simple menus
Nice ambiance
Friendly servers
Good Food

Best: chocolate insane dessert
Next: lamb appetizer
Also have: edamame hummus
Just ok: chicken Cobb salad
Not great: beet salad. This needs help. Maybe toss the lettuce and add red onions and tomato.

Seriously, get the dessert.

Inn on Lake Granbury, Granbury Texas

Inn on Lake Granbury
http://m.innonlakegranbury.com/

This quiet little Bed and Breakfast sits tucked away on Lake Granbury in Granbury Texas. I wanted to get out of town for a holiday weekend with my mom and I remembered a friend of mine telling me about this place. The grounds are immaculate and the rooms are cozy and clean. My favorite part was the lushly landscaped pool area that featured a straight view of the lake. Breakfasts are included here and are generous with savory egg and casserole dishes, as well as sweet items too. A wine and cheese happy hour happens around 5:30 in case you need a snack. I saw a lot of young couples, maybe honeymooners? This is a place for quiet relaxation time. The town square is a few blocks away and there are several restaurants and shops to keep one occupied. The Inn is pricey though, for the same rate you could stay at the Crescent Court. If you are looking for seclusion, this is the right choice.

Four Seasons Austin Texas

98 San Jacinto Boulevard, Austin

Beautiful property in the heart of Austin. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The rooms are clean, but need some updating. For an upscale hotel chain they should do more upkeep.

House Redo

We have just bought a house. I swore I would never move (because I end up doing all the work) but it was time. I a) never thought I would go into and older home and b) I thought we would build. I just happened to like this house when I saw it, and of course I want to redo a lot of it. We are starting off with painting, then working our way into things like sliding glass doors and decks. I know this is a travel blog, but hey- isn't this an adventure?

Here we go.
