Thanks for the blog etc. Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach. Decor is off the scale. Food/Bar are on par with Zaza for quality and people. 200-300 per night but discounts are available.

Next, Sbk or Shorebreak hotel. Hunnington Beach. Very hard to describe. So hip, so chique, but still surf/eco/Hunnington centered. One block off the pier in the upscale "Strand" area, this place rocks!!!!!! I had badass Morracan Veggie Tangine with couscous in their resturant. Its a paper free hotel so bring the iphone or laptop. No printed reciepts here. Lots of pretty people, great rooms, great food. Only open four days so I am one of the first guest.200-300 per night but watch for net specials.
